"An unknown middle-aged batter named Roy Hobbs with a mysterious past appears out of nowhere to take a losing 1930s baseball team to the top of the league in this magical sports fantasy. With the aid of a bat cut from a lightning struck tree, Hobbs lives the fame he should have had earlier when, as a rising pitcher, he is inexplicably shot by a young woman."
What I like about this movie:
So many great things about this movie. A sports fairytale. One of, in my opinions, the best endings in movie history (which ironically is the exact opposite of how I understand the book ended). I am usually not a "pull for the hero" type of guy, not so much that I pull for the villain but I am more a fan of anti-heroes but it's hard not to pull for Roy Hobbs.
